Having previously worked years of retail, the strong hatred I have toward Christmas music has evolved over time. My very picture of hell resembles that of working in a mall filled with frantic, hostile shoppers with a soundtrack of Jackson 5 and Mariah Carey playing over, and over, and over again. With that, I present to you my list of tolerable Christmas music to usher you through the season
1. Coldplay- Christmas Lights
As a loyal Coldplay fan, I would be liable for stoning if I didn’t include this on the list.
2. Summer Camp- Christmas Wrapping
A “campy” little cover of the old “Waitresses” song
3. Hurts- All I want for Christmas is New years Day
Delightfully retro
4. The Killers- Boots
I love this because it’s a refreshing take on the usual Christmas lyrics we all dread
5. Colbie Caillat- Christmas in the Sand
Made just for all you Californians (I type this with a hint of jealousy)
6. Christina Perri- Ava Maria
probably the most traditional of the collection I present, but this song is perfect for a cozy, snowy night in with a good book and blanket
7. Home (ft. Michael Buble)- Blake Shelton
Much like the Michael Buble version, but with a bit of that Blake Shelton country twist
8. Santa Baby- Taylor Swift
Anyone who knows me well, knows I simply cannot resist me some Swifty. Guilty Pleasure.
9. It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas- Michael Buble
Yes, I’m well aware that the actual nature of this man is more douchy than delectable, but you can’t deny the guy’s knack for good Christmas songs
And Finally, it’s not Christmas with out some ol’ blue eyes….
10. Let It Snow- Frank Sinatra
‘Nuff said.
